I’m Abi and I'm a PhD student looking at recovery mechanisms after haemorrhagic stroke. I'm really excited to be involved with Pint of Science for a third year; it's such a great way of celebrating some of the exciting research that's happening on our doorstep. See you all at the pub!

I am a 2nd-year Volcanology PhD student at the University of Manchester, investigating various chemical and textural clues in special Icelandic volcanic rocks to unravel the history of active volcanic zones. I love to be involved in inspiring people to find the scientists within them.

I'm an immunology PhD student at The University of Manchester researching intestinal mucus and how it's important in fighting off parasitic worms. After being on the Our Body team for the 2023 festival, I’m excited to be involved this year as the social media manager for the Manchester team.

Hi! I am a PhD Student in Cancer Science at the CRUK Institute in Manchester where I study how lung cancer becomes resistant to chemotherapy. I am excited to be involved in PoS, bring bits of science outside the lab, and make it more accessible to everyone!

I am a Politics PhD Student with a big interest in understanding how we can bring about change for the better. I believe knowledge production and dissemination play a key part in this process – and even better if we can do this over a pint!

Hi I'm Rosie and I'm a second-year PhD student. My research is about using visible light imaging to measure blood oxygenation in skin and more specifically in the rare disease systemic sclerosis. I am passionate about making research accessible to and exciting for the public.

I'm Franzi and this is my second year organising the PoS festival in Manchester. I love all sciences and am particularly nerdy about natural sciences so my research focusses on microbes living on gases. Hopefully, I can share my excitement for science and research with you at Pint of Science 2024.

I am a PhD researcher investigating the evolutionary origins of social behaviour, comparing how cooperation in children and in our closest living relatives, chimpanzees. I’m passionate about reconnecting the public with the natural world and inspiring them to get involved with science.

Hi I’m Erin a first year PhD student at the CRUK Manchester Institute. I’m interested in understanding how specific conventional immune cells regulate the anti-tumour response in cancer, but I am more broadly interested in how the human body functions in both health and disease.

I’m a first-year PhD student at UoM investigating disease mechanisms in myositis (an autoimmune muscle disease) in order to improve the outcomes of myositis patients. Beyond my studies, I enjoy watching live music, running and cheeky vimtos.

My name is Natasha, I am a 1st year MBPhD student, My research focuses on how peripheral immune changes link with post-stroke cognitive decline. I have a keen interest in clinical neurosciences and hope to pursue this in the future! In my free time, I like hiking and learning languages.

Hi, I’m Jen! I’m a postdoc radiobiologist at the Manchester Cancer Research Centre where I’m currently working on identifying drugs that will increase the sensitivity of brain cancers to radiotherapy. When I’m not busy science-ing, I’m normally reading, baking, or advocating for women in STEM.
